With this series , we at MOSAIC try to answer the increasing number of queries we recieve from NID Aspirants all over India.

A lot of candidates are in a very confused state of mind, after attempting NID DAT ! They are not able to decide whether they performed well in the test or not. Actually they are correct ! It is only clear, once the results are out. This is because NID exams are not like conventional entrance exams where all the questions have same set of answers. The paper style is also not fixed : the pattern changes every year. NID DAT is “ Design Aptitude Test ” which is designed to test the creative aptitude of the students in a limited amount of time. How can I prepare for NID exams ?

Answer : There is no shortcut, no set of formulas to crack NID. What the examiners are looking for is creative & unique answers. The paper is designed to check the creativity of the candidate. Now creativity can’t be correct or incorrect. Your answer shows your way of thinking which can be different from your friend. So their can be multiple answers to a single question in the test. Now the next big question…

What is Creativity ?

Answer :Creativity is a mysterious trait. Many people have tried to define creativitiy in their own ways but there is no single universally accepted definition. It is difficult to summarise in a few lines but we can say that creativity is the ability to come up with new, original ideas which are not conventional. It is the breaking away from the stereotype, routine, accepted set of thoughts and possessing a deeper insight to problem solving. In short, a creative person experiences rebirth everyday with his or her ideas. ”

But this is a bookish definition. So, let me explain: You are being creative when you are being unique, you answers are not average. There should be something in your answer which shows your USP, which shows that you have that spark and you are different from the others.

You may ask “Am I Creative ” ?

Yes or No …Who will judge ? If I don’t have this GOD GIFTED talent or I’m less creative than my peers….does this mean I don’t stand a chance in NID ?

Answer: “ Don’t Panic ! The truth is that creativity can be enhanced with some effort. Every person is creative in his or her own way. It’s only a matter of mindsets, attitude and habits. You only need to change your perspective and see things differently than you currently do.”
