What is NIFT?

National Institute Of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

NIFT was made a statutory institute in 2006, by an act of Indian Parliament.

The Act empowers the Institute to award degrees and other distinctions.

NIFT is the first Institute in India to award its own Degrees in the field of Fashion Education.

NIFT is a pioneering institute of fashion education in the country and provides UG and PG degree programmes in the field of fashion.

About NIFT Entrance Exam

The Institute conducts NIFT entrance exam every year to measure the aptitude of the aspirants for admission to First Year for the different programmes offered at the Institute.

The Institute had called for applications for the academic year 2024-25. The application process is closed now.

The entrance test for the UG & PG courses will be held on 5th February 2024. 

With its headquarters at New Delhi, and other campuses at professionally managed centres, National Institute Of Fashion Technology provides a firm foundation in fashion education in the domain of Design, Management & Technology. The 18 centres are located at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Chennai, Daman, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkatta, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Panchkula, Raebarelli, Srinagar and Shillong.

Successful candidates selected through the entrance test can secure admissions to various courses provided at NIFT: Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech)

With 11,475 students enrolled for Undergraduate Courses, 1629 for Postgraduate Courses & 59 for Doctoral Studies, the total number of students studying at NIFT is 13,163.
