1. NID - National Institute of Design 

One of the most sought after Design Institutes in India, NID has its campuses at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bangalore, Vijayawada, Kurukshetra, Jorhat and Bhopal. The Institute offers B.Des and M.Des programmes with five faculty streams and twenty diverse design domains. It is the most cherished dream of Design Aspirants to secure a seat of admission at NID. It has been declared 'Institution of National Importance' by the Act of Parliament, by virtue of the National Institute of Design Act. NID admission forms are out in September - October. The entrance exam is held in two phases: Dat Prelims and Dat Mains. The first phase is held in January, while the Studio Tests for the second phase are held from April to May. 2. NIFT - National Institute of Fashion Technology

NIFT was set up in 1986, under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The Institute is providing various courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, but is acclaimed for its courses in Fashion Design and Technology. 3. MIT - Maeer's Institute of Technology

Established in 2006 by MAEER's (Maharashtra Academy of Engineering & Education Research) in Pune, MIT institute offers various courses in Design. The Institute has collaborations with international design schools and offers the benefits of students exchange programmes and international faculty.

5. IIT - Indian Institute of Technology (Department of Design) Guwahati

Established on the North bank of the river Brahmaputra in Guwahati, Assam, the Department of Design is situated amidst breathtaking beauty and serenity. It is one of the thirteen departments at IIT Guwahati and offers M.Des Degree, B.Des Degree and a Ph.D degree in design.

6. IIT - Indian Institute of Technology (Industrial Design Centre) Mumbai

Set up in 1969 by the Government of India, at the campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, IDC is one of the oldest design college in India. It offers B.Des, M.Des programmes in Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation Design, Interaction Design and Mobility and Vehicle Design as well as a Ph.D programme in design.

Based in Coimbatore, DJ Academy was set up in 2004 by GKD Charity Trust. The Institute is placed amidst 21 acres of land in an eco friendly location, 18 km from the city centre. DJ Academy provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate Diploma courses in various design streams.

8. Pearl Academy of Fashion

Established in 1993, Pearl Academy offers various courses in Design, Media and Retail but is renowned for its Fashion Design courses. The Delhi centre was first to be established and was the most distinguished one. Other centers are located at Noida, Jaipur and Mumbai.
