Latest Updates for NID 2021

Due to the current pandemic situation, DAT Mains for NID Admission 2021-22, will be held in Online Mode only. 

For B.Des: Shortlisted Candidates for NID DAT Mains would be required to upload a theme poster as a single PDF file, size not exceeding 10 MB (Topic will be communicated separately to shortlisted candidates)

For M.Des: Shortlisted Candidates for NID DAT Mains would be required to submit a Statement of Purpose (SoP) within a maximum word limit of 300 words, which needs to be typed & uploaded as a single PDF file, size not exceeding 2 MB (Questions will be communicated separately to shortlisted candidates) The candidates are also required to prepare a digital copy of their portfolio to be uploaded as a single file in PDF format, size not exceeding 10MB. 

 

NID admission process for the academic year 2021-22 has started on January 9, 2021. The online application process ends on February 7, 2021. Apply Now

NID DAT

Candidates aspiring to take admission in NID B Des at Ahmedabad, NID B Des at NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Assam & NID Madhya Pradesh and M.Design have to take NID two- stage competitive exam:

NID Design Aptitude Test: The Design Aptitude Test is conducted in two stages. Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims and Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains. NID Dat Prelims for B Des & M Des programmes will be conducted on 14th March 2021. DOWNLOAD FREE NID Question Papers Now

Stage 1 NID DAT Prelims: It is a pen and paper based test generally held in the months of December-January. The question paper will be in English, comprising of 100 marks. The paper comprises of a mix of subjective and objective type questions having text and visuals. The test aims to evaluate the aspiring candidates on creative abilities, knowledge, comprehension, Analysis, creativity, visualisation to name a few. Based on the scores of DAT Prelims, shortlisted candidates will be eligible to appear for DAT Mains exam. The B.Des/GDPD Dat Prelims is a single paper consisting of 3 hour duration whereas the M.Des paper is further divided into two parts: CDAT ie Common Design Aptitude Test for 30 minutes and design-specific test for 2 hours  

Stage 2 NID DAT Mains : Candidates shortlisted after the DAT Prelims will be invited to appear for the Stage 2 DAT Main exams.

DAT Mains for M.Des. consists of two parts: Studio Tests & Interviews

1. Studio Test: This may consist of tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions etc. This test will be marked out of 100 marks and will be conducted in English. duration of the            test will be 3 hours.

2. Interviews:The interviews will be conducted separately for each discipline, immediately after the Studio Test, at the same centre.

DAT Mains for B.Des and GDPD: The DAT Mains for these programmes may consist of tests in multiple formats such as in a studio set up. These will be marked out of 100 and will be conducted in English. The tests will be conducted over a maximum period of three days.

NID COURSES

NID B.Des 2021: The four year Bachelor of Design programme is offered only at NID Main Campus at Ahmedabad. Total No. of Seats offered in NID B.Design programme for Indian Nationals including reserved categories is 125. In addition to the seats available for the B.Des Programme, an additional 19 seats are available for Overseas Candidates. Total No. of Seats in NID B.Design programme for overseas (supernumerary) candidates - 19. The B.Des programme is offered in the following areas of specialization:

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) at NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh & NID Assam: The four year Bachelor's Programme in Design (B.Des) is offered at NID Andhra Pradesh, NID HaryanaNID AssamNID Madhya Pradesh in the following areas of specialization:

The B Des Programme at the above mentioned NID's has 75 seats each only for Indian Nationals including all categories. 

NID M.Des 2021: The two-and-a-half year Master of Design programme is offered only at its campuses in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar.  In addition to the number of seats mentioned below, three seats are available for overseas candidates for M.Des disciplines with 19 seats & two seats are available for disciplines with 12 seats.
