NID KURUKSHETRA APPLICATION FORMS 2017-18

 

National Institute of Design, Kurukshetra, an autonomous institute under DIPP, invites applications for the second batch of its 4 year Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) for the academic year 2017-18. Admissions process for its first batch for the Academic Year 2016-17 was undertaken during the months of July-September 2016 and it is expected to commence the classes from mid-November-2016. 

NID Kurukshetra DAT Prelims 2017

DAT Prelims for NID Kurukshetra GDPD will be held on 8th January from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the announced test centres. It wil be one question paper in English containing Multiple Choice Questions ( MCQs ) with one or more than one correct options. The paper will be marked out of 100 points. This is a pen-and-paper test conducted at the same time on the same day across all test centres. All questions are compulsory. There is no negative marking. Based on the DAT Prelims scores, separate merit lists shall be prepared for each category

GDPD Programmes at NID Kurukshetra

NID Kurukshetra is offering 60 seats for 4-year Graduate Diploma in Design ( GDPD ) with specializations in Industrial Design, Communication Design & Textile & Apparel Design. The GDPD commences with a two semester rigorous Foundation Program followed by 6 semesters of specialized studies.

Industrial Design

Concerned primarily with the relationship between industries, systems and those who use them, emphasis is on process centric approach that shapes a student’s education through participation and teamwork. Faculties inculcate user-centric approach and processes. Design projects form the core of an Industrial Designer’s education and cover broad areas that they are likely to encounter in their professional careers. Students are actively encouraged to participate in collaborative projects with industry, social sector, government and MNCs.

The Industrial Design faculty assimilates inputs in diverse domains like

  • Human factors
  • Cognitive ergonomics
  • Form studies
  • Studio skills
  • Advanced CAD
  • Research methods
  • Design management
  • Materials and manufacturing processes
  • Social sciences

Communication Design 

During their period of study, students are encouraged to work in the field of traditional and digital media, covering a variety of projects in the selected sub-domain of communication design. The fundamental importance of creating a visual vocabulary through drawing, the development of aesthetic judgment, values of form, proportion, image and word have become an integral part of learning communication design.

Textile and Apparel Design

The Textile and Apparel Design Faculty strives to develop innovative and synergetic approaches to design for diverse sectors of the textile and apparel industry, markets, the social sector, informed by an appreciation of the cultural heritage, socio-economic, ethical and environmental concerns that is developed through fieldwork and research. Creative explorations from concept to prototype are encouraged. The curriculum emphasizes on building a variety of skills and commences with the fundamentals of textile and apparel design. This includes:

  • Textile fibers
  • Weave structure
  • Surface design
  • Dyeing techniques
  • Printing methods
  • Sewing techniques
  • Constructed textiles
  • Basic inputs in garment design

NID Kurukshetra Eligibility Criteria 2017

Upper Age Limit for Candidates is 20 Years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on or before June 30,2017. 

For General Category : Candidates born on or before June 30, 1997 are not eligible.
For Reserved Category : Candidates born on or before June 30, 1994 are not eligible.                                     
Candidates who have passed or who will appear for Higher Secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations from any recognized board of education like CBSE / IB / ICSC  or their equivalent during the academic year 2016-17
