As per the Government of India’s National Design Policy, four new NID’s are to be operational soon out of which NID Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh has already started its operations in the year 2015. Other three include

  • NID Jorhat, Assam
  • NID Kurukshetra, Haryana
  • NID Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

The GOOD NEWS is that NID has invited application forms for its new centre at Kurukshetra  for the academic year 2016 - 17. The academic programme will start in October / November 2016 and the transit campus will be located at Government Polytecnic, Umri, Kurukshetra, Haryana. The construction work for the permanent campus has already started on a plot of land ( 20.34 acres ) alloted by Haryana State Government on NH-1, near village Umri.

How to apply to NID Kurukshetra?

NID Kurukshetra is offering 60 seats for 4-year Graduate Diploma in Design ( GDPD ) with specializations in Industrial Design, Communication Design & Textile & Apparel Design

Eligibility Criterion: Upper Age Limit for Candidates is 20 Years

                                     (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) on or before July 1,2016.
For General Category : Candidates born on or before July 1, 1996 are not eligible.
For Reserved Category : Candidates born before July 1, 1993 are not eligible.

Candidates who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2) from any recognized Board of Education such as AISSCE / IB / ISC or equivalents during the academic year 2015-16

Last Date for online Registrations  August 8, 2016
Availability of Admit Cards online August 21, 2016
Design Aptitude Test ( DAT ) August 28, 2016        
Phase I ( DAT ) Results   September 5, 2016*
Availability of Call Letters for Studio Tests  September 9, 2016*
Studio Tests at NID Kurukshetra September 18, 2016*
Final Results September 25, 2016*

DAT will be held on 28th August from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the announced test centres. It wil be one question paper in English containing Multiple Choice Questions ( MCQs ) with OMR sheet for answers by the candidate. The paper will carry a total of 100 marks. Shortlisted candidates will be called at NID KURUKSHETRA transit campus for Studio / Situation Test ( Second Round of Tests ) The Studio / Situation Tests will also carry a total of 100 marks.
